I’ll start with Monday, we went to bodega bay! and walked around on the rockiest beach in the world. Without shoes on. I know how Frodo felt while hiking mount doom. but it was worth it. I have some cool stuff to bring home that I found. We were late to dinner cause its a bit of a drive but we had some great salmon that was caught 2 days before by our member brother parker. who told me stories about the great whites he had seen, and has promised to take me deep see fishing off the farrallon islands when I come to visit. 😀 we then had all our appointments fall through, so we decided to follow the spirit. We went contacting on san Miguel and found a sweet guy named hugh. He has a couple bulldogs that we got to meet and told us to come back and leave a blessing with his family. It was great. Tuesday we did service for a guy that we tracted into last week. His name is Scott. he’s an old guy who just had shoulder surgery. we cleaned out his garage and did some other stuff for him. we dug a hole and talked the whole time. He is from a town that is 20 miles from Nauvoo! so we talked church history with him and gave him a pamphlet to read. He and his fiancé are pretty sweet. later that day we had our 2nd ever weekly scripture study class started by ME! it is patterned after the one we had in Vallejo which was a great tool. We had 6 missionaries there, 1 ward mission leader, 2 less actives, and 1 recent convert. So it doubled from last week! I have a good feeling about the class. Wednesday we went back to Scott and Barbra’s (his fiancé) They had more service for us to do and we got to pour cement, set a post in the hole we dug, and cut up some 8x8s. I really enjoyed it. They got us Mountain Mikes pizza. They had misplaced the pamphlet so we gave them 2 more haha. the rest of the day was filled with an exchange and some cool spiritual contacts. We had a youth from the ward out with us and I wanted him and Elder Ehlers to have some good experiences finding. So I kinda threw my plans out the window as we were walking. I asked Ben where he “felt” we should go. He pointed us down a street where the first guy we talked to was this super humble Hispanic man named Efron. He has a ton of faith but life has been weighing him down. California is an expensive place. So we talked for about 20 mins and I got his info for the Spanish Elders. We then walked more and I asked Elder Ehlers and Ben each where they “felt” we should go. They guided us to Miguel and another guy whose name is slipping my mind. They had been talking about God right before we got there! So I again talked with them for about 20 mins and got their info for the Spanish Elders. Miguel has recently been looking for a church so this should be good. 🙂 Then Thursday came around 7-11!!! so we got 3 free Slurpee’s from 3 different 7-11s. I didn’t feel too good afterwards. But we taught a lady named sorbi about baptism by reading 2 nephi 31 and asked her “if baptism isn’t necessary then why would God allow Jesus to be baptized” it was cool cause she said she’d look it up so when we returned later she said her view of baptism was changing and it seemed more important then she had thought before. we then did a bunch of other stuff that I cant seem to remember. Friday we had zone conference! here in Santa Rosa. I loved it, they talked about Peter and his own conversion. Christ told him that when he was converted to strengthen his brethren. So our desire to strengthen others is a key indicator of our own personal conversion. we did a ton of other cool stuff, it lasted 9 hours or something like that. If you want to read my notes in 2 years you can. we taught a lady at the church named Teresa afterwards. She is a member and was asking us how she could participate in church more and we taught her what we learned at zone conference haha It was kinda fun. Then Saturday came, we had district meeting where we reviewed zone conference and we brought Nate along with us. He is the recent convert I interviewed last transfer, he served his mini mission last transfer with Elder Makoni so he still comes out with us. We are good buddies, he really helped to put conversion in perspective at district meeting. He is preparing to serve a mission in a year! we then went to see the hermanas. They were sick and not allowed to leave their apartment. So we brought them slurpees which we owed them from losing a competition earlier in the week. (we wanted to see who could contact more people in one day) then we left them with blessings. Then we did more service for Scott. We helped his daughter move to a new apartment and invited her to bible study! (Tuesday class) everyone loves bible study haha. We then asked him if he had read the pamphlet and he said not yet. So we went through it with him. We talked about the first vision and the restoration of the church. he asked us “wait if Joseph Smith restored Christ’s true church, then what happened to it in the first place?” it was a great question! so we answered it and asked him if he would be baptized when he knows that its true. He was like, YEAH! so we are pumped about him. we then ate dinner with sorbi and talked a bit more. She is a tough cookie to crack. So keep praying for us. we then had a blitzed Petersen lane ward and the Spanish branch. We had 8 missionaries go out with 8 members to visit people in Petersen lane then elder makoni and I split up with the Spanish elders. I went with elder porter, the other zone leader. to teach this lady. I understood most of the Spanish for about the first 20 mins but I zoned out after that. (that’s why i’m the zone leader :D) after another hour of Spanish I learned that she believes everything we teach! but her husband needs some convincing. So the Spanish elders are doin a good job. we then had sunday, Emily our new investigator came, she’s 9 haha her parents were less active last year so now we get to teach her. They are active again so its not going to be hard. we then visited a referral from the Windsor sisters, (they cover Windsor which is the northern half of our ward) a kid named david. He is 16 and has read the bible 15 times! he is in alma in the bom they gave him. He is super nice, he gave me a shirt and tie that didn’t fit him. we talked just for a bit and then went to see a few more people. we ate then had our sunday meeting then bed. missionary work is going good but we need a lot more people to teach. We need the wards out here to remember the conference, some seem to have forgotten already. So pray for our members to step it up! Keep finding for us! love you all! don’t expect this type of email every week haha.
I got my package, its sweet! I loved the whole thing. Our mission was challenged at the end of june to double the amount of people with dates for july in 10 days. at that time we had 102 with a date for the month of july. But during the 10 days we added 120! most of those are for the 20th and 27th. week one of july we baptized 8 week 2 we baptized 9 so we are going to really need a lot of prayers to stay on track. We are still on track though. Its gonna be sweet! our only chance to baptize this month was Patrick who went awol this week and missed church so he wont be able to make it. We saw him yesterday and he came to EQ basketball night so he is still investigating. He will just have to be part of August now.
The work is hastening! don’t get left behind! buddy I’ve got a sweet present for ya!
