Well family, this week has been grand.
we began with P-day where we had our first lesson with Emily and her family. She is 9 and is preparing for baptism. Her brother is 7 turning 8 in october so we are letting him come to the lessons too haha they are both a lot of fun. His name is riley. He was answering a bunch of questions during the lesson so elder makoni told him he was on fire, so the rest of the lesson riley kept yelling “i’m on fire!!” everytime he answered a question haha. They are a great family.
On tuesday we had district meeting, all about planning. We had run out of time to do weekly planning last week so it was good. It gave us time to do a little bit of extra planning. We then got in our service clothes and went to help brother Lecheminant (matthews teachers dad) deflate and pack away his white water raft. Then we saw david, a 16 year old kid who wants to be baptized. He has been reading and we talked just a bit about the church. he’s a good kid though. Does a lot of CRAZY stuff. We then went to see scott and barbra again. still in service clothes. We finished the project we had been working on. It looks professional if i do say so myself. We then taught them the restoration. We had a member with us who grew up southern baptist. He told us all about his conversion story and it was sweet! we then did facebook, (our entire mission is back on facebook now) and ate dinner. We had our weekly scripture study class but to optimise time i had 2 priests come. Elder Makoni and trevor stayed at the class and Ben and I went to teach Patrick. We talked about eternal families and how he feels about baptism. He is a very open and honest guy. I’m hoping he can keep progressing.
the next day we did service for sister trejo. She manages an apartment complex so we helped her paint one of the units for an older guy. I then exchanged with Elder Bowler into the rincon valley area. (its right above the bennett valley area) (i love being in the same stake for so long, i feel like i live here) Elder Bowler and i had a good night contacting and seeing people from his ward. The next morning was the best. We talked to this old vietnam veteran named tom. He opened up to us and told us all about his cat milo that had just passed away 2 weeks earlier. SO i did the only thing i thought of. We said a prayer with him, gave him a plan of salvation pamphlet and set up a return appointment.. It seemed to work pretty well. He gave us each a hug afterwards haha
We exchanged back in time to eat dinner in the shiloh park ward and go to the baptism the sisters were having, (they share a ward with us) we had emily and her family come. Emily loved it and told me she is very excited for her baptism. The next morning we did more painting for sister trejo and had a bunch of stuff fall through. I cant remember what we did, but it wasn’t too effective. But Saturday was! We had our meeting with brother romney in the morning and afterwards we were about to leave to see patrick. But as we were walking our i got a call from a member saying that there was a lady at the church who wanted to be baptized. i was like “we may have time for that” so we ran to the church and met Wai. She is from Hong Kong. and she has been so sick and tired of waiting for china to open that she came here. haha jk she is a christian lady who wants to help her mom accept Jesus Christ and be baptized. So she found out that we were the only ones who do baptisms for the dead so she showed up at our family history center. We explained about the temple and told her she would have to be baptized first. We gave her a restoration pamphlet and invited her to church the next day. we then taught patrick bailey, then we helped a lady move into our area who wasnt a member. Her friend is a member of the healdsburg ward so he contacted us and had us help. We are gonna go back and try to teach them tomorrow. While doing that elder makoni went with a member to teach sorbi. We then ate, and then had a great lesson with selia. We brought the primary president to let her know all about primary and what her kids would do at church. We then had another baptism for the sisters and Wai came! it was an all around solid day. sunday was great, we had church. Wai came and loved it, the whole time she was asking if she was on track to be baptized. we then met wtih the high council rep over the stake and talked about how the work was going. then we weekly planned. then we ate, then we weekly planned again. oh we saw sister kimzey all week too. She is a missionary who went home from this ward last transfer so she has been touring the mission with her mom. It was cool seeing someone come back from the dead. well thats all i got.
