Today is Memorial Day. We changed up our usual P-day schedule so that we would be able to make it to the ward BBQ at 11 am this morning. So we shopped and cleaned and then went to the BBQ. We just played football with some of the youth, and then taught most of them how to play rugby. It was a lot of fun. I am wearing my black fiery Superman shirt and all the kids were yelling “HEY SUPERMAN!!” at me. I didn’t know what to do haha but it was fun.
This past week has been good for my 2 boys. They have learned a lot and are teaching like crazy! There have been a few moments this week where I will watch them contact people and I’ll just stand there. I feel like the Holy Ghost sometimes. It’s fun watching them work. They are good at what they do.
This past week we have had some fun moments. We had P-day last week, then a fun district meeting all about the Doctrine of Christ. 3 Nephi 27:19-21. Then we had interviews. I have good news. President didn’t send me home! I was worried this time. He still hasn’t realized how evil I am!
We then practiced Portuguese.
On Wednesday we taught Dwayne and started getting him ready for the baptismal interview. He is so fun. Afterward we had our regular scripture study class. We finish 1 Nephi with everyone! We are now going to read how Nephi’s brothers tried to kill him and how Isaiah is quoted a lot. Its gonna be good.
I just texted Brenda. We are gonna see her at 3 next Sunday. We will probably teach lesson 3 again. You should study it so you can help us teach.
Anyway, back to laughing.
So I exchanged on Thursday and left my area in the hands of my capable boys for the first time ever! I went to the Brush Creek Ward for the day. We had a good time. I got to teach this funny Indian recent convert. She is about my age. She likes Star Wars and Mario. So she made a dress out of material that has X-wings and the Death Star on it! She also made a bead necklace that looked like a Stormtrooper. We then taught another kid my age. He is from Utah! He is a member of the Church, but not too active. We talked to him a lot and he was planning on a mission but around his senior year of high school, he started to get rebellious. I was thinking about my own experience as we talked. We both graduated in 2009. and now in 2013 both of us are in Santa Rosa, California. So we have a lot in common. But the difference is when I was in my senior year of high school I was reading the Book of Mormon all the way through on my own and was praying about it. So, because of that one small thing I am a missionary and he is out working away from his family with a kind of unfocused life. Its a big difference. The small things matter!
So anyway, I got back to my area, and on Saturday we had a different kind of day. I put on a yellow T-shirt and jeans and wore them all day! We did service tracting in the morning. We then ate lunch with a part member family and had fun with them. We then did service for Brother Griffiths. We helped him dig a few fence post holes and start fixing his fence. We taught a lady at the church named Lia. We didn’t have time to change – it felt weird. but she accepted to be baptized on July 6th, which was sweet! We then ate, changed and went to the church for a Ward musical. They did a musical all on Missionary work! It was so cool! They had it as the story of a guy who was investigating the church. They had 2 of the Priests be missionaries and a bunch of other people. The sang songs about the Plan of Salvation, the Atonement, and the Restoration! It was great! I told the Stake President to do it again for the whole Stake. He liked that idea. So hopefully I’ll get to see a repeat performance. We then had church, and Dwayne came again! Like his 7th time in a row since we contacted him. He is a stud. We are going to have him interviewed tomorrow. He should be baptized this Saturday. I’m pumped for him. We have been exceedingly blessed here. Lia came as well for her second time, and a lady named Nonny came! I tracted into her about 3 weeks ago and she got sick after we taught the first lesson. I didn’t think we’d see her again so quick. But she loved it! The speakers all nailed their talks and the lesson in class was about prophets so it will be great for her. We talked a lot about prophets. We then taught Dwayne again and then taught Brenda. She is doing super well since her baptism. She is already in Mosiah 2 – haha.
I love my job!
