So this week was amazing! I’ll give the highlights —
District meeting we talked all about the Sacrament. We read 3 Nephi 18:7-12. (Q-what do you think they were filled with in verse 9? Are you filled each week?) It was a powerful meeting with a lot of good practice. I then interviewed Cathy to be baptized on Saturday. She was found 2 WEEKS AGO!! She is super solid and prepared by God. She was found because those Elders prayed with faith and then contacted her on the street. PRAYER WORKS.
We then had some good stuff happen on Wednesday, then I exchanged with the assistants on Thursday (they are in my district). I then interviewed a guy named Nate to also be baptized on Saturday. The sisters met him 2 WEEKS AGO as well. A member gave him a Book of Mormon a year ago and he started coming to church a few months ago. He has experienced true conversion. In the interview I asked him whats he plans to work towards after baptism. And he wants to go on a mission!! He is 21. I told him that’s how old I was when I left. He is the result of God preparing him and the members doing their duty in sharing the gospel.
We then taught a lesson in the Brush Creek area at a members home to one of their friends. Another great example of member missionary work. It was great.
We then helped all day Friday with a move and we help set up for an event called “The Human Race.” It’s a 10K run and all for charity. It’s the biggest charity run in the US. So we did service for 8 hours on Friday, then taught Brenda. Then I got up at 5am to make breakfast for a bunch of missionaries so we could be back at the event place by 6am. I directed traffic for a few hours and then found out that a few volunteers hadn’t showed up to direct runners on the rout. So Elders Corn, Windholz, Greenwood, and I all hopped on our bikes and I led them to our positions! We were the “Mormon Patrol” It was so much fun!! The lady in charge loves all the help from the Elders. It was way cool hearing non members say “Elder Tubbs” over the Walky Talkys all the time. They then gave us free pancakes and we helped take everything down.
Brenda got interviewed at 1 and we ran to another church building to do a car wash at 2. We were super busy the whole time – it was a great success. We then had to change without showering and teach a new investigator named Nonny. We smelled terrible to say the least. All sweaty cause I had to bike fast. But then we ate dinner and went to a baptism. Dwayne came, Nate got “baptismized” and it was one of the most spiritual moments of my mission. Singles wards are much better at supporting each other than family Wards.
Then I broke mission rules and called home on Sunday. oops.. 🙂
Well thats my week!
