Here is what i sent Tj —
This week has been crazy busy and fun, I have 2 new companions so i’ll describe them to you. Then I’ll copy and paste this part into my email home so I can kill 2 birds with one stone.
Elder Tatton and Elder Blackhurst are my new companions. Elder Tatton is from Salt Lake City Utah. He is waiting for a visa so he can go serve in the Porto Alegre Sul mission in Brazil. He is solid as mess. He invited 2 people to be baptized in 3 days. He went to Olympus high school and played corner back! and baseball too if your into that sort of thing. He is teaching me Portuguese as well since he still has to study it for an hour a day. O tres sangui Irmaos!
We are having a bunch of fun here. Elder Blackhurst is from Grantsville, Utah. He plays soccer and did dancing – The Ballroom team. He just came here from Napa where he started his mission. He has only been out for 3 months. They are both 19. So sometimes i feel like an old dad telling his kids to stop goofing off. I’ll be riding my bike and they’ll both be behind me doing something crazy.
Filling up the font on Saturday was a nightmare. I thought for sure one of them was going to fall in. They both are obedient and teach well together which is good. This is one of my most exciting transfers already. Elder Tatton didn’t have a bike and Elder Blackhurst’s is broken. So we borrowed a bike from one of our zone leaders and from the mission home. The one from the mission home is this tiny little green Walmart bike that is at least 30 years old. It is build for 13 year old kids. So we let Elder Tatton ride it. I could’ve sworn he was going to die. I was praying the whole time that it would stay together. We named that bike the “Green Goblin.” We borrowed a bike from the AP’s to be safer.
Brenda’s baptism went very well – she was nervous but excited too. There was a very strong spirit there.
We had a fun time at church the next day. I was introducing the new Elders to everyone. Then we studied language and 12 week for 2 hours. Then we got a ride from the Winders (a senior couple) to our next appointment – but it fell through. So I gave my boys the phone and left them to tract a street. (I was super nervous leaving them behind) and I went with the Winders to visit some less actives. ( being in a trio helps so much.) I came back….. and they were alive!!! It was a Christmas miracle!
We then taught Dwayne by watching the restoration with him at the church. He said he felt “moved” again. (I love when they feel the spirit) He is still praying about his date of June 1st for baptism, so we just testified and told him he would need to be interviewed on Saturday. So we challenged him to continue listening to the iPad daily (Book of Mormon) and praying daily. He is solid. He is already in 2 Nephi 20 – haha. I can’t wait to see his baptism. It’s gonna be a good day.
Well that’s all I can think of.
I will give you a more detailed summery of the week so you can know how stressful it was for me. But it was good.
Monday we got to the office, emailed (YOU) then helped Elder Christensen (senior missionary) transport some new cars to the mission office from a dealership; then took one of those new cars to help Elder Kenny (senior missionary) load some donated furniture into his truck for new missionary apartments; then took the new car back and got a ride to dinner. (note: no shopping, no sports)
We then had to spend a lot of the day packing Elder Kings stuff. At 4, I went to a trainers meeting; then had dinner in Healdsburg with all the new Elders. All 28 of them! I was anxiously engaged looking for who mine would be. It’s so exciting! We then had a devotional and got home at 915-ish.
The next day we had trainers meetings at 8, I got Elder Tatton! – then transfer devotional at 10; then leadership training at 1; then I got to dinner back in my area around 5. We then had our study class around 7 at the church. So by this time my brain is fried and I’m tired of being inside. Then we had district meeting – in which I had to teach 4 hours of material that I got the day before – in 1.5 hours. It was crazy, but we had a very spiritually uplifting meeting.
We then got the Green Goblin and rode to see Teresa who Elder Tatton invited to be baptized! And she said yes! We then did more riding and taught Brenda. Then, we went to bed.
The next day we had weekly planning. Which is another 3 hours inside. We made a bunch of phone calls and saw a lot of potentials. We also had exchanges. I had Elder Corn come with me and Elder Tatton. We had another lesson with Brenda. At a members home. They live on Hillsbro and Keystone Ct. I want you too look up how steep it is on Google maps. So after getting to the top and being covered in sweat we watched the restoration with her. She felt the spirit hardcore!! Then we ate cookies.
The next day we helped a few people move. had Slurpees, set up for a baptism, then we baptized someone. Then we had dinner and gave our Elders Quorum president a blessing. Both these Elders have never given a blessing before. It reminded me of when I started my mission.
The next day we had church. Dwayne came, a lady named Lia came who we are starting to teach. And Brenda got confirmed! It was a good day. We then watched “The Restoration” with Dwayne and he felt moved. I think I told you that already. Then we watched the Oakland Temple Hill Choir do a musical performance with the San Francisco Bell Ringers Choir. It was fun. And now i’m gonna stop emailing..
Dwayne told me Iron Man 3 and Star Trek were great. Thanks for lying to me! haha When he first told me there was another Star Trek, I was way surprised. I was like ” they made another one already??” It was fun.
Now i’m gonna play some rugby!!
love you all!
