thats so sick! your area sounds like a blast. Halloween was a bit lower of a day for us to. We ate dinner at a part members house. We then went trick or treating to active members haha. The next day our whole mission went to a mission CAMP OUT! We went to a girls camp in the Redwoods and had an all mission conference. We had such a great time. It did mean a 4 hour van ride for our entire zone in a 15 seater van. It was so fun! so for the power hour scripture you read it and explain what is happening. You tell them that Alma is about to go teach the zoramites. They say a prayer and go without any thought. The very last line in the chapter says “and this because alma prayed in faith” So you ask the head of the household to kneel down with you and to pray for you and your companion to find a new person to teach within the next hour. You can build their faith by asking them “do you believe that there is someone out in YOUR neighborhood who is ready to join the church?” dont make plans for the next hour after you share this. Leave it open for the spirit. And ask them where in the city they think you should go or what street to have you knock on. It works, you might not pick up a new investigator that night. But someone you talk to will be ready for you. Follow up with all the contacts you get and if you do this often you will find new investigators. We found 2 last time we did this. We only knocked 4 doors. We had 10 minutes left after knocking on 3 doors so we said another prayer and then elder smith went and knocked on a door he felt like we should go to. (elder smith is so much more in tune with the spirit then i am) then we met thom and are now teaching him the gospel. He is sweet.
God is out there and wants us to succeed. Just ask him for help and trust him. I know you will continue to baptize people.
Love you! -Elder Tubbs
PS i’m going to the beach today!
I’m glad you like the tie.
That was my email to spencer. I thought you would enjoy the filler.
So this week was amazing. we went to a camp in the redwoods near Gualala called Camp Liahona. We had so much fun! for the first 2 hours they sent us up on this hill side covered in dead trees. There were about 3 chainsaws being used by the senior elders. Then about 140 elders going at it in a human chain carrying giant logs and tree branches. it was a lot of fun. Redwoods are soft so you can literally rip them apart with your bare hands. (makes you feel like superman) after that though we did some spiritual things. throughout the camp we did hiking, special musical numbers (a tradition started by the eureka zone (us)) We ate food, had a special time dedicated to sleeping. About 8 hours worth. We had such a good time. AND WE WATCHED A MOVIE! its called the butterfly circus. I want you to google and watch that movie right now. RIGHT NOW. Don’t read the rest of the email till you have watched it. Its only 20 mins long. we had some of the most fun on the van ride there and back. We had 15 missionaries in a mormon assault vehicle. It was sweet. after we got back we had to try our best to get into missionary mode again. It felt weird being at church. I didn’t really know where to go. But it all worked out. Elder Smith showed me where to go. We had a funny sign on our door titled this: “Mormon guys” they had seen we got a package and took it in for us. It was my package from the primary. Tell them thanks for me! anyway for halloween we went tracting and did normal stuff. We then ate dinner and had a good time with a part member family. Then we went trick or treating to active members homes. We got about 20 full sized candy bars each and a pan of cinnamon rolls. Beat that buddy! i still have the touch. we actually only visited 2 homes. so yeah this was a sugar filled week for sure.
now we are going to play frisbee on the beach. I hope you enjoy your day!
