Dear Family and friends,
this week was amazing.
here is a little bit of my email to pres.
We had a great experience with an investigator named Joe Mazzatti and his family. Elder Smith and I contacted him about 830 at night and talked to him about his family for about 15 minutes. We found out his wife was at one time a member and may still be one. He told us we could come back whenever. When we went by again we were able to talk to him for about an hour about the restoration and the book of mormon. He asked us where he should read. We went by again last night after conference. He lives 2 houses away from our ward mission leader so we took him with us. Joe had read ALL the testimonies, the introduction and 3 Nephi 11-16! He understands it all so well! He explained to use a little of Joseph Smith’s account of Moroni meeting him every year for 4 years and he shared his discovery of Moroni 10:3-4 with us. He is great, he asked us what the next step would be. We talked about baptism and the temple for families. We talked about how the priesthood makes those things possible and the restoration of the priesthood through Joseph Smith.
Joe is great!
So on monday we had P-day, we did a bunch of shopping and took a bunch of pictures in the redwoods. I felt like a T-rex could come out at any moment. Or a storm Trooper. It was beautiful!
We then met with our investigator Brian. He wasn’t feeling too well so we didn’t share much with him. He is such a good guy though, he is doing well. we are going to see him later today. we then contacted this girl named Cristina. She asked us how the mormons feel about marriage. We talked about the sacred nature of families and eternal marriage. We gave her a picture of the temple and told her she should set a goal to go there one day with her family. We should see her agian soon.
Then on tuesday! we had district meeting then taught Irene again. She is doing well, we have taught her everything there is to know. She just has to wait for bishop to get back from vacation.
On Wednesday! we ate breakfast with our mission president and met the new councilor in the mission presidency. He has to have a councilor up here cause its such a crazy long drive for him. (4hrs)
We had a good time, then elder goynes and i taught a lesson on a trampoline while his companion was being interviewed by president alba. It was such a fun lesson! we did get a lot done despite the trampoline. then i exchanged with elder weber (who looks like Bryan McDonnell) We taught a lady named Sarah about the plan of salvation with Sister Cole her friend there. It was cool, we were talking about the life before this one and about children while the whole time sister coles baby “lucas” was playing right in front of us. It was a lot of fun. We then went to the richards for dinner and our investigator Irene was there! It was fun seeing her again. We then had a great lesson with a lady in the ward about Ether 12 and the power of Faith. It was a good day.
Thursday we drove down to Fortuna to get the an estimate on the car. 1200 dollars for a cracked bumper. (it wasn’t me, it was the previous missionaries) i still have a PERFECT driving record. We exchanged back and elder smith and I had a great lesson on the Atonement, a member of the bishopric was there. He bore a very powerful testimony. Its so fun to help people realize just how much Jesus Christ has done for all of us.
On friday we did weekly planning and saw Irene again, We had a funny dinner too. the coles invited us over Because this company was going to make dinner for them. But it was an entire presentation. SO after we sat there for an hour as 2 ladies talked about how awesome some shiny pots were brother cole gave us money so we could get some burgers real fast. It was funny because the ladies spent half that time talking about how fat america is. Good ol’ greasy food.
Saturday we watched conference! it was amazing! we watch the second session with Irene at the richards home. They are all a lot of fun. I love being there. We had a good time at the priesthood session as well.
Sunday we watched it agian, then we went out of town for dinner, way up in the hills. Then we had our amaizng lesson with Brother Mazzatti. He is great!
well thats my week.
