We had a great Christmas week, on Christmas eve we were at “Dan Foley” feild playing in the plesently sunny bowl. it was the Nephites VS the Lamanites. E. Tubbs was playing middle linebacker and was guarding E. Ruvalcaba. (he’s hecka fast) but E. Tubbs’ companion was the QB. So E. Tubbs picked off the pass and RAN! he was going strong but E. Hafen was determined to repent for his thrown intreception and was running hard. So E. Tubbs put on a little extra juice. and his leg exploded. So he still scored but that was the end to the plesently sunny bowl. But by thursday his leg was fine again. On tuesday we ate breakfast with our ward mission leader. His family is a lot of fun. They have a huge dog named grizzly and a 9month old named evander. we ate Gumbo with brother Jones and his family. There was shrimp, crab legs, and lots of other good stuff. We then went to the Astles where E. Tubbs called the Tubbs family. Then we ate dinner then E.Hafen called his family. We did a bit of facebook then went to bed.
Wednesday we exchanged. I went with Elder Stainback, (like a laundry problem) we taught in his area and had good fun. Evert wednesday we teach a scripture study class at 7pm. Elder Stainback and I werent planning on teaching but when we showed up our companions (who were supposed to be there) were gone. So we taught and it went really well. On thrusday we had district meeting, and we saw kathryn again. She has agreed to be baptized on January 26th! she was at the scripture study class the day before as well and is doing great. We are very excited about her. After Dinner we got to start teaching another family as well. Jason and Maria. Maria has a friend she grew up with who is LDS so she used to go to early morning seminary everyday. She loved it and it is going to be a lot of fun teaching them. We saw kathryn again on Friday, we did our weekly planning. The coolest part was when i got to do my first baptismal interview ever. I interviewed a guy named Derek. He is one of Elder Camper and Stainback’s investigators. He is being baptized on the 12 at 5pm. It was so amazing being in there. He has a strong testimony and has been taught well. We talked about some of the commandments and about going to the temple in a year. His wife is already a member. As the interview was ending i felt the spirit very strongly. It was amzing. I knew he was ready to be baptized and make a covenant with God. It was so cool! Then on Saturday we had an early morning meeting with borther egloff our ward mission leader. He made all four of us breakfast. we had some apts fall through. But we had a sweet tracting experience. we tracted into this guy named Sinclare (like the gas station) We taught him about the preisthood and had a 30 min doorstep lesson with him. Those always pump you up. We are going to see him next saturday. Sunday was pay day. We had Kathryn come to church. and Becca. Our other investigator who is working towards a Baptism on January 26th. Her daughter was baptized a few months ago and now her mom is checking it out. She stayed all 3 hours and the ward did a great job taking care of her. They showed her around and sat by her so we wouldn’t have too. it was great. We are going to see her again tonight. then after church we visited a bunch of less active members with Brother Busch. He drove us in his dirty old work truck so we could save miles. I loved it, it was like landscaping all over again. He helped us a lot as we taught. Its crazy there are so many people who have MILLIONS of excuses on why they arent at church. But the truth is if you are there God will make your existance better. Thats it. Mosiah 2:41. Remember that.
That night we stopped on the side of the road to push a car that had a dead battery. It was a good work out. Then we woke up and started a new week.
It was fun talking to you. It really re-motivates me to work hard so i loved it. Thanks for all your support. And especially the free stuff! 😀

That is a terrible EMAIL! I’ll forgive you though. It is P-day today. I’ll update you to the best of my abilities. monday last week we played football on a turf field they have out here. Tuesday we got to teach a lot actually. Wednesday we exchanged and i went with Elder Blowers in his area. He is in my district. It has been fun seeing how much he has changed since Fairfield. We had a good time and taught a sweet guy named Daryl. He had a very good grasp of the Priesthood. It was fun to teach him. We talked about baptism and gave him a book of mormon but since the holidays are coming up we wont see him again till january.
thursday we had an all mission conference in Santa Rosa. It was sweet! i got the other package there and i got your package last monday. I had to go to the office to get it and i saw the packers G on the side and i knew which one was mine haha.
On Friday we had dooms day. It was the most none exciting end of the world ever.. I kept waiting for the zombies to come or the meteor to hit or something, but nothin. We did our weekly planning and taught this guy named miguel. He is a little league soccer coach for his sons. They are good too. He took 2nd in ALL of California last summer. And his other sons team took 1st.
but the best part of the week was sunday. We have been working with this family and teaching them. They are members and have a lot of faith just not much knowledge. Their 15 year old son Manee just got the priesthood yesterday! it was so amazing. He had bishop do it cause no one else could pronounce his name. Its tongan and LONG. it was a good day though. We went over afterwards and had him help us teach his family the plan of salvation. It felt so good. Then we ate dinner. Then we went to bed after walking around at night. Vallejo is sweet. There was a shooting at our ZL’s apartment complex last night. No one died though.
So i have been slacking with my spiritual side of my email. I want you all to read Luke 2 tonight and 3 nephi where samuel the lamanite propheseys of teh coming of Christ and the sign on his birth. This is an amazing gift we have all been given and we can show God we appreciate it by serving others and focusing on Christ. I know Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our savior. Read also Alma 7:10-14. He felt everything you will ever feel. Remember this. If you were the only person on the earth. Christ would still have come and died just for you. I know this is true. I love you all! sorry i’m not skyping. have a good time watching HP megan! remember it has to be HP 1.
love ya! -elder tubbs

I’ve got more time so i’ll send a garbage email.
So this week i was called a snake by our zone leaders. It was for unimportant and jovial reasons but it reminded me of mom calling me satan and it made me smile. I’ve still got my touch.
i got your letter megan! it was super awesome! i wanted to hear how it ended… will you send me another one?
Oh and my companion is very focused but it does add a new dimmension of distraction
when he is so close to home. There is a joke that goes around the mission that happens to a lot of new elders. you wait for a very low flying plane to come by and say “hey elder, how far away do you think that plane is?” and they say something like “i dont know, 10,000 ft.” or something like that. Then you say, “actually its about 30 days away” or 23 1/2 months or something like that. Its a lot of fun. But everyone hears it early so its getting old. i put this in here cause Elder Hafen heard that for the first time ever last week. Ah, it was grand. And now i’m out of time.
Here is my email to recneps (“Spencer” backwards),
Dear spencer Elder Tubbs,
we get to use skype but i dont want to. I’m going to try and call at 4 cali time. Which is 5 utah time. Which is like 7 missouri time. So dont call at night and we’ll be good. I’m glad you are having good time with the Gaukels. You should go ahead and baptize them. Tell them i said so. This week we have been working hard to find new investigators. We didn’t have many when i got here. We were able to find a new guy while tracting named Jason. here a bit of background story. (I have been using the mario theme music for my door knock for about 8 months.) so i knocked out mario’s theme on his door and Jason opened it right up and said “i love that game”. Or something to that effect. He said he opened the door because of the music. So we talked for a good half hour and gave him a book of mormon. we talked about baptism and he said he didn’t know if he’d ever be mormon. but we can change that with Gods help. The best part is he lives right next to a member of the ward council. Its game over for him. The other sweet part of our week was a ward christmas party. We had the spanish branch there as well. it was a lot of fun. We had a gym full of people and food with a lot of fun preformances. And santa came in after the closing prayer. I got a slice of pumpkin pie so all is right with the world.
We have been working with a less active family and the 15 year old son wants to work on geting the preisthood now. So sick! we also had a huge tongan family move into the ward. so their 19 year old son is gonna play rugby with us today. Its gonna be a good day.
Have a great week! Elder Gavarrette probably wont recognize the name. But i bet he’ll see the tie. Those things are rediculosly bright.
so yeah, We are also going to start teaching a guy named Finau, (there are a ton of polys and philipino people here) His wife is a member. We walked up to him and he had a huge cooler full of crab and fish. He might make us some soon. He’s a good guy. This week we are going to have an all mission christmas conference on thrusday. Then doomsday is on friday. (make sure to charge your camera)
Then i’ll email you again next week. Its gonna be fun!

I feel like I need to explain the subject of this email. So yesterday we were looking at the contents of an sd card than Nathan mailed home and it included some video clips of the Elders in Nathan’s apartment trying to shoot jellybeans to each other. They seemed to be having fun, but it was rather disgusting. One Elder would shoot the jelly bean out of his mouth and across the room, the next elder would try to catch it in his mouth and then shoot it back across the room to Nathan. Fortunately, most of them were ending up on the floor!
Dear Elder TJ,
This week i got transferred. So yeah… I’m down in vallejo. Its pretty intense. Right across the bay from Oakland. So we try not to be out of the car after dark. Its super fun! We have 4 missionaries serving in our ward so we get to see them a lot as well. Its great fun. Here is how our week went.
Well i’ve been in Vallejo for a week now almost. I love the area, Elder Hafen is a great missionary, and the ward is amazing. They are more engaged in working with the missionaries then most of the other area’s i’ve seen. We have a great ward mission leader, a great bishop and a lot of good members. But right now we don’t have many investigators. We have had a couple of very good lessons with less active members of the ward. Elder Hafen is a great teacher, i’ve already learned from him. But we are having a hard time finding. I am trying to do the 10 new people a day thing. We have been able to get 10 a couple times and even 12 one day. The rest of the days have been between 3-7. We have been working hard at it though. We have been working on using the pamphlets as well. It helped us a great deal as we taught the restoration to a less active family on saturday night. The spirit was very strong there and they have helped us teach priesthood line of authority very well. The family we taught was at church on sunday and were smiling the whole time! I loved seeing them there. We were able to have a good experience last night. We walked down the street just looking for houses with people home. We met a guy named Tony. We taught him the restoration using the pamphlet and he asked us a great question. He said to me “do you really believe this is the one true church” i loved it! i was able to bear my testimony and connect it to the book of mormon and we committed him to reading the intro last night. We are going to see him again at 630 today. I’ve learned there are always miracles and people to find. We just have to work really hard to find them.
So there you have it. We are working hard. That is so sweet that you were prompted to go see that family! keep listening to the spirit and dont do anything to make it leave. It will help you daily. Eduardo Gavarrett is the one who came to our mission. So be sure to wear your tie! and dont let the other missionaires be jealous. Make sure you tell him where you got it. haha that would be sweet. Well I gtg. Dont get too fat on christmas cookies. They will keep them coming! it never stops. Have fun and remember to teach about christ since it is his birthday.
Love – Elder Tu66sy
there is what I sent President, and spencer.
Sorry i’m getting lazy so copy and paste is my new best friend.
So this last weekend i introduced Elder Thompson to all of out investigators. Then I left. We drove down in a van for 4 hours in the rain. Then i got in a car and drove down through Novato then took the 37 out to Valley-Joe. This place is sweet. I love it here. We have the very south end of vallejo. I cover the bottom half of the vallejo 2nd ward. We have 4 elders in this ward. I have already had to tell like 3 people we dont think black people are evil haha its been fun. My new companion is Elder Hafen. From Salt Lake City. He leaves in 37 days. He is counting down but he is a very hard working missionary. its fun serving with him. He spent the first part of his mission in Vallejo 1st ward and so he will have spent 10.5 months here by the time his mission is over. And he isn’t dead yet! God does protect his missionaries. His favorite color is yellow. He was home schooled. he does dance, and i think swimming. I have no idea what my new address is and if you send it to the mission office its not like they will send it back or not get it to me. Just send it to them! if you send it here it WILL probably get stolen. I did write the primary while in the van from Eureka. So they should get it soon. I sent it to our house. I’m glad curtis is home. I am getting exercise. I do not eat that much. I have a car thankfully. and I am still very in shape. just over short distances. There isn’t much i can do about it. When i was in a bike area i was just so much hungrier that i couldn’t stop eating. There is nothing you can do about it except watch what you eat. And that is impossible when every member of the ward waits till the missionaries come over to make their “Famous (insert sugary food)”. I will have to wait till the new year to lose weight. But i’m not really that fat. And i only ate half of one of those reeces cups by the way. I shared! The jelly bean thing was SUPER fun. And none of us got sick. Thats just what happens.
So i have decided i will not be skyping on Christmas. I forsee that will lead to a lot of wasted time and inability to understand the technology on my part. So i’ll call ya.
Love ! Elder Tubbs

I’ve figured out how to save time!
Copy and Paste.
Dear Elder TJ,
Thats so sweet that Alex got baptized. I’m happy for ya, a bunch of the missionaries in the room think she’s cute. You going to marry her? jk don’t think about marriage. My week was super crazy. My mission president called on wednesday to let me know that both me and my companion were leaving. And the missionaries who cover the singles branch out here are going to cover our family ward as well. I was sad, but they are good elders so i know the people we are working with are in good hands.
here is part of my letter to pres so i can save time.
Thanks for sending me to Arcata, this area and ward are amazing. I am sad to see it go and to leave the people but i’m happy that there are good missionaries here to take care of it. We have spent the last 2 days introducing Elder Thompson to most of our investigators. We had Brian at a baptism, at church, and we’ll see him at dinner tonight at a members home. He told us he wants to help with the sacrament haha. He saw we were short handed. We told him after his baptism he could get the priesthood and start helping. We are going to set a date with him tonight now that he has been to church more and is doing better at daily reading and praying. He even fasted yesterday! Elder Thompson met Joe mazzotti yesterday as well. We just ate lunch at his restaurant today as well. He wanted to let us eat there before we left. He is sad to see us go but we’re going to stay in touch over facebook and he told elder thompson he can call him and set something up. He wants to come to church and check it out. Other then that this week was great.
My ward here was small, about 40 people at church on sundays. So this week we went to Hoopa. Its an indian reservation. We saw hundreds of wild dogs. And there are no addresses. You just ask where someone lives and people will tell you. It was nutz. I wish i had more time to write. Now i am being transferred to Vallejo. Its the city accross the bay from Oakland. I’m gonna get shot…..
Hope to see more pics next week!
Love elder Tu66sy
So on thurday we took a long trip out to Hoopa. And on the way home we got a flat tire. I had to lift the car so we could get the Jack under it. AND MY BACK IS FINE. But it was a lot of fun. I felt like i was in a 3rd world country.
It is so funny you are the camp director. Have fun camping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I did get a package from the primary. But you can tell them i’m saving souls right now so they will have to wait. Jk i have a 4 hour van ride tomorrow so i can write it then.
My aggressive side was always there but i didn’t start expressing it in football till my sophmore year. It took some time. But i have always been very athletic. So yeah.
Oh PS: I’m being transferred to Vallejo. 😀 i may need a bullet Proof vest for Christmas.

dear family and friends,
I don’t feel like typing at all…
here is some of spencer’s email.
I’m glad you are havin a good week. Zone conferences are the best. So much good food! So who is the driver in your area? Oh and your apartment is amazing compared to ours. We have 2 rooms, 1 bathroom, 4 missionaries, and no dishwasher or washer and dryer. BE THANKFUL for what you have. Anyway we did have something sweet happen this week. Usually we invite a ton of people to church and one or two come. This week we had 5 come! we had more non-members in elders quorum then members. (we have a small ward) It was so much fun to see that many people at church. On thanksgiving we had a turkey bowl. we had permission from our president to play in it. We had a fun time, it wasn’t as fun as our ward ones though. When bishop and trevor are the qb’s it gets intense. On thursday this week we saved up some miles so we can go to Hoopa. Its a big old indian reservation in our area. There are some less actives we are going to visit. Should be a lot of fun. I’ll take some pictures. Have a fun week!!
i will be praying for your investigators.
So there you have it. On monday we played football at the beach again. Lots of fun. Then we had a great lesson with the Elder Family. They live in manila. (google map it) its a CRAZY place. Lots of dogs and travelers. lots of fun too. But they are so sweet, they fed us even though we had already eaten. They said they were sure our moms were out there praying for us to be taken care of. We had a great lesson with them and they came to church on sunday! they were very hungry by the time it ended. But thats normal.
On tuesday we exchanged and i spent the day in Mckinleyville. We bible bashed with some JWS. (not my fault) then had some good lessons. I cant really remember that day.
Wednesday we did service for Brother Woody. We dug out the dirt under his barn so he could put in a new foundation. we cleaned out the gutters of a “grange” for another guy and had a good lesson with our investigator named Richard. Who also came to church. When he started reading the book of mormon he started in the book “mormon” haha he’s a good guy.
On thursday they let us play in the turkey bowl! i scored quite a bit and got a few interceptions. AND no one got hurt because of me. No one got hurt at all actually. one of the elders was sick so he took a few videos on my camera. you’ll really enjoy them when you get to see them. He did a good job. We ate a great thanksgiving dinner and had a few good lessons. We read 1 nephi 8 with brian and told him to hold to the iron rode. (scriptures) they would help him throughout his life. He was at church too!
On Friday we went black friday shopping and go some nice ties on clearence.. not really. We did start listening to christmas music though. We had a great lesson at Irene’s house. Her grandaughter and great-grandson were there. So we taught them about the book of mormon. Irene even helped us teach! it was very cool to see someone i’ve taught teach someone else. I was very proud of her.
On sunday we saw tom, gave him a large print book of mormon and talked to as many people as we could. One of our mission goals is to talk to 10 new people a day. its hard on somedays but on saturday we got 11! (we don’t count tracting)
Sunday was church! we had a lot of people there. 3 elders in elders quorum and 4 visitors! I was super happy about that. They were alll talking to eachother and asking if they were visiting too. It was good to see. We were able to go to a baptism that night and stand in the circle as someone named ben got confirmed a member of the church. It is great to see the work progressing one person at a time. It never stops. Its a lot of fun being a part of it.
Today at wal-mart someone came up and asked us to help them. This happens all the time, everywhere we go people mistake us for employee’s. We told him we weren’t but he asked if we were mormons. We werel like YEAH! and he asked if we made house calls. We were like HECK YEAH! and we got his address and phone number. It was was sweet. But he lives in eureka so i may never see him again. But thats ok!
anyway, love you! transfers are this week. Or the info anyway. They are next tuesday. But my address is the mission home anyway so if you send it to them they will know were i am being transferred. They do this all the time. They don’t make mistakes.
love- elder tu66sy

Here is part of spencers email, (my email to spencer)
We had a great week. Irene got interviewed by the bishop last sunday and got baptized this saturday She was so happy She is 78 so if any investigators ever tell you their too old thats grabage(spelled rite?)! so we had a crazy experience last night We did power hour with our bishop and found 4 investigators! 2 families living at the same house It was so cool, they have 3 kids each so their house was crazy We just met them and they invited us right in and gave us cake and hot chocolate I was a little worried but i’m not dead yet so, score! but anyway i have to keep this short We have to have a short P-day because we are allowed to play in the turkey bowl on thursday BEST THANKSGIVING EVER
So anyway as you can tell i’m stoked for thursday. We are going to play football with our zone and a bunch of members. but to go through this week. monday we had Football in the sand which was great. We then went to Blue Lake to eat Pizza and watch all the older members and irene play dominos. They have such a good time. its so fun to watch them laugh and smack talk eachother. It is one of the activities that helped irene feel welcome in the ward. Its so cool how much it helps to have a friend at church. I want you all to introduce yourself to someone at church you dont know today. DO IT. or i’ll have to drop you as investigators.
On tuesday we had brother Richard at irenes. We talked about how the baptism should go and got the program all set up. We then had dinner with a member of our ward and their firend sarah was there. She had been having a very tough day so we shared alma 7:11-13. We talked about the atonement and tried to make her laugh. It almost worked.
I cant remember which day it was, but one day it rained like mad! it has been raining most of the week. The rain pants i have work so well! i’m water proof. We have had fun contacting and tracting in the rain. Its supposed to rain 9 out of the next 10 days. Thanksgiving is the one not rain day.
But on wednesday we had a lot of members of the ward come out teaching with us. We had a few visits with brother Plaza in the morning. He helped us teach Brian and then we took him to a single older ladys home in the ward and we all talked about the plan of salvation. It was a fun lesson. That night we went on splits with the bishopric.
On thursday we ate at this nice restaraunt compliments of a super nice less active member of the ward. She gets in free to a lot of places somehow and she loves the missionaries. She just doesn’t like church too much. We had a good visit with her though and the food was excellent. But that night we had another food miracle! we called the family we have been trying to see named the “elders” that we tracted into forever ago. Elder smith called them and they said they were free right then. So we drove over and they gave us chicken, col slaw, and pumpkin pie. HAHA it was like 8pm so we were already stuffed from dinner. But we ate anyway then had a very powerful lesson on the plan of salvation. They had a lot of questions about why bad things happen to good people. They now want to visit church and we are talking about baptim with them. We are going to see them tonight actually. So at 830 provo time i’ll be at their house. So pray for us!
friday we had the most rain, i think. we did a lot of getting ready for the baptism. we spent a few hours trying to figure out how to open the valve for the font faucet. but we got it!
Saturday we got ready for the baptism, we did some contacting that morning and ran into a lady who believes in the egyptian gods. She has a book of the dead and everything! we read a bit but i haven’t seen any mummies runnin around… dang. oh well. We had the baptism and it went well, we were nervous that nobody would come around 6:59 there werent many there. but at 7:09 a ton of people all showed up at once so it was sweet.
Sunday we had the confirmation, it was sweet. now i’m emailing. Sorry i’m tired of typing.
