Dear Family and Friends,
Here is part of my letter to President Alba.
The 2 investigators we picked up are daughters of our most recent convert. She was baptized last October but has a lot of health problems so she doesn’t make it to church too often. We went over to read with them and started reading 3 Nephi 11. As we read the part about Jesus giving instructions on how to Baptize one of them named India asked “can just anyone baptize somebody?” it was perfect! We started to teach about priesthood authority and the other girl asked “what happens if all the people with the priesthood die?” so we taught the apostasy. They asked us perfect questions. We then taught them why the Book of Mormon is so important and how it allows us to know if all that we shared is true. They agreed to read it or listen to it on audio. We asked them if they would be baptized if they received an answer and Annie said yes. India just kinda laughed. But she’s only 13 so she is just shy. I’m very excited about them. They have an older brother who wasn’t there at the time. But we are going to try to teach him too. It was a great lesson.
So during that whole lesson their dog murphy who is 50% wolf was playing with my right hand, scratching it and chewing on it. I rolled up my sleeve so he wouldn’t tear my shirt. He is a playful dog, but if he isn’t playing he is barking so I had to sacrifice my hand. It was well worth it. He is so fun.
So on Monday we went to Trinidad beach. I found a starfish. (outside the water) and we climbed all over the rocks.
Tuesday we had district meeting.
Wednesday we cut blackberry bushes. Those things have thorns all over them. But the berries are super good. And I saw a green tree frog! It was sweet, but I couldn’t catch him. He was too fast. We got some referrals from the members we were helping. Members are the best people to get referrals from.
Thursday we helped someone move, then read scriptures with 2 less active members who have been wanting to come back to church.
Friday we did weekly planning,
But Saturday is where the week got good. Elder Goynes and Camper who live with us had a reporter follow them ALL DAY. So he ran with us in the morning. He ate with us, studied with us, and went to the blitz in Eureka with us. (A blitz is where all the missionaries in the zone go to the same city and tract to find new investigators.) He came to the baptism, and he ate waffles with us. Saturday was a lot of fun. We did the blitz in Eureka then we all ate waffles in the kitchen. Then I got in a white ninja suit and played in a hot tub. Jk. Sara asked me to baptize her so I did. I was nervous, but I only had to do it once. No stutter, no foot up out of the water, no nothin! It was very cool.
I then texted my sources in Fairfield and found out Ryan got baptized on the same day!
It was a great weekend. Then this morning I bought a sweet hoodie, called a Baja hoodie. So that’s my week. It’s been a good one.
