Well, sorry about last week. I’ll just tell you what happened this week. So I did text Fairfield and Ryan got interviewed – and he passed! He should be getting baptized soon. But I’m in Arcata now…so, yeah.
On Monday, we did some cleaning and shopping. I got a German soccer jersey. 😀
On Tuesday, I was in the Car ALLL day – it’s a loooonnnng drive up here.
On Wednesday, we had great things happen. So, first off I live with Elder Goynes! haha It’s so fun. There are 4 Elders in 1 apartment. I’m with an Elder Trent Stevens from Chandler Arizona. His family is wealthy. They own their own plane. And they do all sorts of fun expensive things. He has been out 20 months so yeah, he’s old – but I’m older, haha. He is fun though, we both like, Star Wars, LOTR, Dragon Ball Z, and other random stuff. But most importantly we both like being missionaries. The people out here are as hippie/tree hugger as you can get. When the 60’s ended they all came to Arcata. I’ve talked to someone who “talked to the angel moroni”. I’ve talked to a guy who thinks he is a prophet, or who thinks the Book of Mormon was written by computers. Needless to say, weed messes you up. Or in other words, don’t smoke.
But back to laughing –
Our mission president has told us to carry a Book of Mormon at all times in our hands – even to Walmart. (it’s sweet) This has helped us use it and read from it while contacting on the street or anywhere really. It’s been so much fun! We’ve been able to give out more and teach more because of it.
On Wednesday, we tracted and I learned the area. And we taught a Humboldt state football player (former) named Derek. He’s a very interesting guy – he has more of a Buddhist belief about life.
On Thursday, we had district meeting, Elder Pryor from the MTC is in my district! It’s sweet – I love seeing him around. We met a Family who is part member and part non-member. We are going to start going by there because the wife wants to get back into church.
Friday was sweet, We met this very nice old lady from Portugal named Natalia. She complemented me and said I was very mature, then she said I worry too much cause I’m bald and only 21, haha. I get jokes ALL the time. Many people think I’m my companions dad or that I’m 30-40 years old.. but it’s ok. We got to see a fight while we were tracting and we taught another guy named Kenton. He’s a fun guy as well.
Saturday we met a sweet lady named Sister Armstrong. We are going to go have a Family Home Evening with them tonight cause she can’t get out to church very often. They have a dog that is Part wolf! He’s nice though so it’s all good.
Sunday we had church. I got up and bore my testimony and introduced myself. My favorite thing was I got to pass the Sacrament. I haven’t done that in forever and I loved it! I miss doing that. The youth in that Ward are very few in number. It was humbling to be part of the Sacrament after learning so much more about how important it really is. After church, we got to take someone the Sacrament who lives a ways out of Arcata. We drove through Rivendell no big deal. IT WAS FREAKING AMAZING! The Redwoods are so beautiful. I love all the green and constant fog. I’m going to explore them when I get the chance. It’s so cool. It was even cooler to be able to bless the Sacrament for a Brother of the Ward who can’t leave his bed.
After church, we taught the Restoration to an older lady in the Ward who wants to hear the lessons again. She was so fun and nice. The people up here in Arcata are crazy but nice. It’s going to be a fun area.
Well, that’s.. that’s about it…
