Dear Family and friends,
Well President Bunker dies this week. The next time I email you I will be under the thumb of President Alba. I’m super bummed, but I know that President Alba is called of God and set apart to direct us in the work. So I’ll follow him just as I have been with Bunker. This week was different though. We have been lower on miles in anticipation of driving to Santa Rosa next Wednesday so we have been doing a lot of walking.
So last week we actually had P-day on Tuesday. Those of us who stayed here in Fairfield went to a theme park called Scandia, and played Laser Tag! We get in free cause a member works there and it’s owned by a bishop. It was great fun, but I must add that the one in Provo is infinitely better. We had a good time, we road go-karts afterward, then went to pick up the new missionaries. Then we went to institute. I love going to institute. I feel selfish cause we get to listen instead of teach, but it’s a great opportunity to be with all the members and meet their friends.
On Wednesday we took some of the Elders who just came in shopping then went to Rio Vista. We have an investigator out there named Zane. He’s a cool kid; he was looking online and found some bad info about the church. He thought the prophet was something like a dictator. But we were able to explain the role of a prophet to him and give him a Book of mormon. It was sweet!
On Thursday we met with Ryan. He is great, he has come to church for 3 weeks in a row now. We went over the Baptismal interview questions with him and shared the plan of salvation. He has so many questions that we feel like we share so much information with him. But he just takes it in and listens. He is sweet.
On Friday we met with this girl named Breanna. We walked to Suisun City to see her. She is very quiet and shy but she took a copy of the Book of Mormon and accepted to read it. As long as she does that I know she’ll feel the spirit. We are excited to go back and see her again. On our way back we were walking on this pedestrian bridge that takes you from Suisun to Fairfield. We met this guy named Larry, he was super open and wants to see us again. Unfortunately, he is not Hmong or Singles age so we had to let the other Elders have him. That happens to us a lot, but it’s good that he’ll hear the message anyway.
On Saturday we did weekly planning and a lot of walking, and preparing for Sunday.
Sunday was packed; we had Ryan and Bobby come to church. Bobby is an investigator that is going to be taught by us soon that the other Elders found. He has a copy of the D&C already and has been to church many times already. I’m excited to teach him, he already volunteers in class and talks to everyone at church. He’s more outgoing than I am. We went on splits again after church with 2 boys from the Hmong branch. I took one tracting and we had a great time. We talked to a super nice lady on the first door I knocked on. It was a good experience. I love trying to help others prepare for missions, it’s so much fun. Well that’s all I got.
The Gospel is true! The church helps us live it. Love you all! -Elder Tubbs
