It has been a great week full of miracles. On Monday we did many P-day things. We ate, and then we did missionary work. We talked to this girl named Jessica. (There were a few Jessica’s this week) She is the one who has been reading the Book of Mormon because she likes the stories in it. She doesn’t want lessons but is going to allow us to come and read with her. We read the intro and told her what it means if it’s true. She just texted us this morning and has been reading still.
On Tuesday we had District meeting. Then we talked with a member of the branch named Robert. He has had back problems that have prevented him from coming to church. But he’s coming back now! He is the only one in his family though that is religious. So we went over and talked with him about how he can be a good example to his family. He has been coming for a few weeks now and is now starting to come to institute. He’s an awesome guy. Institute was actually later that day. The Kemptons talked about finances and how important tithing is. They are great teachers.
On Wednesday we had a blitz in 2nd wards area. We talked to this very nice lady named Tanya who had a very Mormon looking home. But we couldn’t tell if she was LDS. It was a little awkward. She invited us in, we met her family, she talked about her friends sons who were on missions, and she knew what a ward was and a stake center! But she had no pictures of Christ or the Temple so we don’t know if she’s a member. We got her address and gave it to the other Elders. It was kinda funny. We then read the Family: Proclamation with one of the Recent Converts in the branch named Ashley. She loved it. Then we had dinner, then we met with the other Recent Convert named Alex, we more fully explained the Atonement and talked about how amazing it is. She is waiting for a missionary who is in the same mission as Ryan and Tyler, named Elder Seegmiller. It’s a small world.
On Thursday we met this girl named Jessica. Her mom is a member but her dad wasn’t. We just taught her the first lesson. She has had missionaries over with the family before but she was 12 at the time. Now she is 18 and just graduated. (Half our investigators are 18 year old girls…) She took a copy of the Book of Mormon and should be at church next week.
On Friday we did weekly planning, we then exchanged. I was in our area with Elder Hatch who was there when I was born! He served in Santa Rosa for a long time. But we were able to read 1 Nephi 1 with Micah who has been wondering about the Priesthood. Then we taught a Hmong Lesson! Those are rare them. They spoke English. But we used our Hmong stewardship. We visited this guy named Chang who hasn’t been to church in a while. He is into Shamanism, and his wife who is not a member was raised as a Baptist in Stockton (lots of Hmongs in Stockton, a whole stake) so she said we could come back and share our message with her. 😀
On Saturday we had a sweet lesson with this guy named Anthony. He was contacted by the Elders in 2nd ward. We met him by rite aid. He wanted to have some help moving forward in his life because he felt stuck. We told him about the Book of Mormon and the Holy Ghost. He was enjoying it till someone walked by and told him the church was racist. (He’s black.) (He also has anxiety problems) So he kind of freaked out and didn’t want anything to do with us. We promised him if he prayed and asked God what he should do then the spirit would tell him. He let us pray and then left. At 9:30 he called us to ask if we could meet him this week! It was sweet.
Then on Sunday we had 4.5 hours of church. We had Cookies and milk during Hmong Sunday school. The milk is like the water and when we dip Cookies in the milk it’s like being Baptized ha-ha. I love the Hmong branch.
Well we are short on time and I have to play Frisbee.
