It is currently 7:35 in the morning. We just got done teaching seminary today. It was way sweet. We read Jeremiah 16:16 with them and talked about how seminary will help them prepare for a mission or to do any type of missionary work. Other than that we had a good week. We got to mow a lawn for one of the members of our ward who just had a knee replacement. It was so fun! I miss mowing lawns, it’s very relaxing. That is actually the same day that the temperature jumped up to 90. It’s been hovering around the mid 90’s ever since then. But it’s not too bad once you get going. I’m starting to get a nice tan too. We had a lesson with Debbi and Larry that day as well, (all this happened on Wednesday). We ended up giving them each a blessing because they were having a hard time. We then got a call from a member of our ward asking for a blessing. So we peddled super hard in the heat and gave her a blessing as well. There was sweat running down my face as I gave the blessing. It was great!
On Tuesday I was in Davis on Exchanges with Elder Gifford. He is from highland and played soccer for them. He is a very good missionary. We had a pretty good day too; we started off by running for 2 miles. I made it the whole way! Then we taught a few of their investigators and had a good old time. Davis is a crazy town, full of the most liberal hippie people on earth. It’s a ton of fun and will be mentioned again soon.
On Friday, we did weekly planning. Then we talked to this sweet guy named Ray. He let us in after we tracted into his house. He took a Book of Mormon right away and said he’d read it. I’m way excited to go back and see how far he is. He is a fun guy. We had a lesson with Larry that night as well. Debbi wasn’t there but Larry was asking us a bunch of questions about the spirit world and heaven. We read some scriptures from Alma 40 with him and talked about the Temple and Baptisms for the dead. He was much more interested and engaged than before which was very good to see.
On Saturday we went to Davis again! There is this day in Davis called Picnic days, Google it. It is crazy. It was started by the school a hundred years ago to be like an open house thing. But now it’s this long party with all the college students drinking and all the families going to the parade. So we blitzed the city. We went to the parade and gave out like 200 pass along cards. The parade was sweet too, we saw 8 Deloreans! And I got a free t-shirt. They threw it to both of us and I ripped it out of the air he-he. We got to talk to a lot of really cool people. All the missionaries in the zone were there. We met at the institute building which is on the same street as like 10 fraternity and sorority houses. It was a very crazy street to walk. We were able to ignore them pretty effectively though. It was a good experience. It’s always fun to work closely with the other missionaries.
On Sunday, we got to go to two baptisms! The Spanish Branch had one that Debbi and Larry came to. It was fun cause they said everything in Spanish, then they said it all again in English. Larry speaks Spanish so he was translating for Debbi. We then went to dinner and made it back to the church in time to be late to another Baptism. It was one of the Davis 1st Ward’s investigators. They had another investigator there who is being baptized next Saturday. He’s so excited for it he made business cards with the time and date on them and has been passing them out.
And that takes us to today, where like I said. It’s already been a good day.
Well, that’s all it got. Have a nice week! I love you all!
