Dear family and friends,
So this morning in my studies i came across a scripture I would like you all to read. Proverbs 23:13-14. This one has helped me a lot with my companions. We get along great! On Wednesday we went to Oakland to hear from L. Tom Perry. And he is one of the most hilarious guys ever. The way he talked and acted was Christ like and funny at the same time. Elder Bacon my companion gave the opening prayer. After the prayer Elder Perry shook his hand and I saw him ask “where are you from elder?” Elder bacon told him: “Provo Utah” Elder Parry replied “That’s too bad” Elder Perry doesn’t like Provo! It was awesome. Later on he had 6 of us on the front row read a scripture for him in front of everyone. It was very nerve racking. After the whole shindig when he was leaving he thanked us for reading for him and he said “I wish I could shake all your hands” but instead of shaking our hands he slapped Elder Bacon on the arm and walked out. I was so confused, and jealous. My companion was struck by an apostle. Ha-ha
On Friday we had a sweet experience as well. Larry who had been struggling with reading and feeling like he was betraying his mother had us over for dinner with his wife Debbi. I’ve talked about them before. She made us amazing food which I do have a picture of. Right when we got there he told us about an experience he had on Thursday. He told us how an insurance sales man came over to sell him life insurance. The sales man turned out to be a member. Not just a member but a convert, a convert who used to be catholic. It was perfect! They talked about the gospel for an hour together. The Mystery member talked about how his Catholic mom approved of his conversion and how it has changed his life. It was exactly what Larry needed to hear. The next morning he read from the Book of Mormon for 45 minutes! It was a miracle. And the food they gave us was amazing.
We then had stake conference on Saturday and Sunday, Elder Cordova from the 70 came. He was even more hilarious than Elder Perry. Humor must be a requirement for General Authorities. He was a great speaker. I loved it. The spirit has been super strong this week. I’m all excited for general conference. Oh so the moral of the story with Larry is to always be ready to share your conversion story. That member who talked to Larry might never know of the good that he has done.
Well that’s all I can remember off the top of my head. I forgot to bring my planner to the church for emails again…
Well, I love you all! (All 3 of you who read my blog.)
