Dear Family and friends,
This week has been a good one, they go by so fast! I had the opportunity to go on exchanges this week with our Zone leaders, I went with Elder Weber to Davis. That place is fun, I got to drive all day. There are a billion bikers there. It’s the bike capitol of the US. On Wednesday we were teaching lessons all day, it was great! And we ate at this place named “Judy’s Grinders” the burger there was bigger than my head. We spent a lot of time this week walking around and talking to people on the street. It was actually a lot of fun.
On Saturday we went to this town called Esparto for a blitz. I think I’ve told you about those. I went with Elder Johnson who is a Spanish Elder who came out of the MTC the same time I did. We saw a Great Dane the size of a horse! It was larger than me. And we had another cool experience. We knocked on this guy’s door who wasn’t interested. He said he had a brother who was a member in Sacramento and another one in Utah. I (being from said Utah) asked “oh, what part of Utah?” he was like IDK, and closed the door. So we kept walking. Then as we walked back he came out and said “Hey! Would you guys like some oranges!?” we replied “sure.” then he says “you’ve opened up my eyes. I don’t even know where my kid brother lives. I’m gonna give him a call”. It was great! I’m not sure if he’ll join the church but he’s gonna call his family. Later that Saturday we went to the guy’s house who randomly came to church last week. He asked if we could help him with something, then went inside and came out with some ties and said he didn’t know how to tie a tie. Ha-ha, he says he’s intrigued by our church.
On Sunday my comp had the opportunity to teach primary with a member while I went to gospel principles with our ward mission leader. The guy came again, with his tie and new white shirt! He asked for a tithing slip because he felt like he shouldn’t use our church for free. I let him use a Book of Mormon during class and afterwards he asked if he could borrow it. I was like “you can keep it!” he’s gonna take it home and read it. After church there was some sort of main event going on, so nobody wanted to let us in, but they were all home. We did get into one house before they turned the TV on. But then they turned it on in time for us to see Justin Tuck get a safety… so then we left. He said he’d be at church though so that was sweet. Then we went to our dinner appointment and tried to street contact people. But the only people outside couldn’t speak English. We ended up giving out a lot of Spanish pass along cards.
So yeah, it’s hard to remember what all has happened this week, I was just fed In-N-Out by some members half an hour ago. It was the bomb!
There is a Quote from PMG that I’d like to share.
“Missionary work is just home teaching to non-members, and home teaching is NOTHING MORE OR LESS than missionary work to members.”
Do your home teaching. Do it.
