Dear Mom, and Dad, and Spencer, and Megan, and Buddy,
This past week has been a good one. First to business, a homeless man lit a Christmas tree on fire while we were talking with him. It was crazy. We rode away and there were flames at least 20 feet high. He took off after that. We could hear sirens about 2 minutes later. Secondly, why hasn’t anyone looked up if the movie “nightmare on elm” street was filmed here? C’mon man! Thirdly, you know that picture in grandma’s basement, the one that says “been farmin’ long” on it and has the 2 little kids with overalls on in it? Yeah I saw that in some dudes garage. I thought it was cool. Oh and I was knocking on someone’s door and I heard the announcer say there are only 13 minutes left to…. and I heard the score 20-13. I had to block it out after that. It was quite distracting. All the 9er fans are going crazy out here. I heard a group of them going crazy downstairs while we were at a dinner appointment. Apparently it was a super close ending to the game.
On a more spiritual note, that lady I told you about named Kasandra, she’s getting baptized this Saturday! I got a text from the Elders in that area. I’m excited for her. It’s gonna be awesome. We have a few people we are teaching, there is this awesome couple named Debbie and Larry, Elder Weisenburger found them last transfer while they were moving some furniture and helped them. They just came to church for the first time yesterday! It was great! Elder Packer (from the 70) came to our ward today for ward council and sacrament meeting. He was so cool! He bore his testimony at the end and his words helped our investigators a lot. I’m glad he was there. We also had Zone Conference this week. It was great! They talked about having a sense of urgency and inviting people to be baptized early and often. I enjoyed it a lot. Oh, and on Sunday we went to gospel doctrine and our teacher wasn’t there. We ended up teaching, it went really well. The class gave a lot of really good comments that kept everyone involved, I think I learned more than they did.
Elder Weisenburger is great; he talks in a British accent very often and is very energetic. He talks a lot while teaching so I never say much. He loves the people out here a lot. Hmmm, he’s from Florida, He kept telling me he doesn’t think I need a haircut. Then you said something, and 3 people at church said something. So I think he might be thinking differently now. He’s about an inch shorter than me, he’s a good QB for gym football and played basketball in High School.
Matthew, I’m sorry Green Bay lost. Here’s a scripture that helped me, Proverbs 3:5-6.
I eat a lot; I’ve gained 5 lbs so far. And I have 2 of dad’s ties if he hasn’t noticed yet. Ha-ha!
The work out here is good, I haven’t been attack by any dogs yet. And I’ve met a lot of wonderful people.
Keep Provo safe!
