I received your package, thank you for the magazine and the candy!
The MTC is amazing, I love being here. I only get to check my email once a week so it’d be better if you sent letters through dear elder. They get here much faster. Life here is good. We wake up early, we have 6 hours of class time a day, and a few hours of study time in the same class room. It’s in the George Q Cannon building, the oldest building in the MTC. I have learned so much, the spirit here is amazing. My companions name is Elder Pryor, he’s a swimmer from Tacoma Washington. He’s a lot like dad, he sings a lot and loves to tell stories, and is always joking around. All the guys in our District are awesome. The two best times of the day are Gym time where I get to play Volleyball, and mail time. Gym is great, I haven’t weighed myself again since the 2nd day so I’m not sure how fat I am yet. I’ve been just eating salads mostly though. Volley ball is a lot of fun. We aren’t allowed to keep score but we have a good time anyway. The sister missionaries are very good at it.
We check the mail twice a day at lunch and dinner. I got the first package but I’ve only received one letter! Write me! Please! If you have the time. And please send pictures, Everyone in our district is trying to get pictures from their family and friends so we can get to know each other better. I would like some. Getting mail is the best thing ever here.
It’s amazing how much they can get you to learn here in the first week. I’ve taught 2 fake investigators, and one fake less active couple. But in all the lessons you can feel the spirit and it’s a very good learning experience. During the less active lesson we taught completely by the spirit. That morning I had studied D&C 130:22 and she asked a question about the God Head. It was so cool! On the other side, our investigator lesson went horrible. He wouldn’t stay on topic at all. I asked him to pray at the end of the lesson and he ended up telling me about how Ceasars army was killed by the Scotts. Our whole lesson was like that. I was able to go to gym time after that which was very much needed.
Sorry my mind is jumbled. I have a timer on my screen that says 13 mins left, so I’m just going to type till it says 2 and then I’ll send. I hope you get something good.
Oh we had a devotional last night, and I had a thought I want to share with you. Every convert remembers the missionaries who baptized them, they often refer to them as “their” missionaries. Then I thought to myself, who’s missionary will I be? 20 years from now who is going to talk about the day Elder Tubbs showed up at their house. All you who are going on a mission soon I want you to think about that. It’s serious business. On another note it’s important to have fun here so your head doesn’t explode, while still maintaining a spiritual attitude. Kylen was right it’s all about your attitude that determines if you enjoy this place. I love the MTC, the teachers, the missionaries, the FOOD, it’s all awesome! Even the salads taste great. They have bacon on them! Oh and watch out! The sister missionaries will get you! One of the sister missionaries has given a lot of attention to one of our missionaries, it’s fun to tease him about it now. Haha, it’s all in good fun.
Well I’m running out of time, so to reiterate. SEND PICTURES AND LETTERS! ALL OF YOU! Mail is my favorite. Well GO PACKERS, please send my superman shirt, I found out I can wear it. Tell Spencer I’m glad he cleaned my room. Tell buddy to stay away from girls, and tell Megan to stay away from boys. And say hi to everyone for me. I miss and love you all. I hope I answered most of your questions. I was running around the MTC right before I came here so my mind is all over the place.
LOVE!! Elder Tubbs
